Kim Roberts

Yoga instructor, Psychotherapist, Dharma practitioner, Author and Artist

About, Career, & Passions:
Kim Roberts began practicing Ashtanga yoga with Richard Freeman in 1992 and has studied closely with him ever since, occasionally acting as his teaching assistant. After studying with Sri Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, she was authorized to teach the Ashtanga system. She also studied pranayama and philosophy with Acharya Shankaranarayana Jois. Kim earned a Master’s degree in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University where she was inspired by the great wisdom of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She has been an enthusiastic Dharma student since 1992, and has completed numerous long meditation retreats, both in the US and Asia. She studies regularly with her primary meditation teachers, including B. Alan Wallace, Tsognyi Rinpoche, and the Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche.

She is the author of Ashtanga Yoga for Beginner’s Mind, an Ebook that explores the relationship of Ashtanga Yoga and shamatha meditation, as well as the upcoming memoir, Diary of a Pilgrim. She has an ongoing love affair with South Asia where she taught for 13 years, and shares her passion of extracting the wisdom she learns in these rich cultures. She recently resumed a lifelong passion for making art, and she brings this new perspective to her retreats, exploring the relationship between contemplative practice and creative expression.

She currently lives, and paints, in Crestone, Colorado, USA.
