Ice Magic: Your Complete Guide.

Picture a world where the wonder of imagination is brought to life by the skilled hands of renowned professional ice carvers. A world where creativity knows no bounds, and every tap of the chisel tells a story of frozen elegance. Welcome to Ice Magic, a highlight of Banff’s SnowDays festival, returning to Lake Louise in 2026. This extraordinary event promises to be an experience you won’t want to miss!

Save the Date!

As part of the larger SnowDays (Jan 16-Feb 8, 2026) celebration, Ice Magic brings the breathtaking artistry of world-class carvers to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Whether you’re a local, an in-house guest, or visiting for the day, you’ll be transported to a world of wonder. From February 5-8, 2026, watch blocks of ice transform into intricate masterpieces under the theme “Natural Athletes – Wild Games,” all set against the stunning Lakeview Terrace backdrop. Each sculpture brings Banff National Park’s wildlife and landscapes to life, showcasing their strength, agility, and resilience in creative ways.

Witness the Sculptures While They Last!

While the official Ice Magic sculpting event takes place on February 5, the sculptures remain on display as long as weather permits, typically lasting until the end of February. The best time to visit is late afternoon through sunset, when the light brings the ice to life or evening viewing (4 pm – 8 pm) is especially magical — the sculptures are often illuminated, making them perfect for photos and atmosphere. For optimal conditions and smaller crowds, mid-week visits are ideal.
