Frequently Asked Questions

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests, employees and visitors. Following the announcement made by Alberta Health Services of the Restrictions Exemption program mandating proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter certain businesses in the province to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will require proof of vaccination to:

  • Dine at:
    • The Lakeview Lounge & Patio
    • Fairview Restaurant & Bar
    • Poppy Brasserie
    • Walliser Stube
    • Fairmont Gold Lounge       
    • Attend a meeting or event
    • Visit the hotel Health Club + Fitness Centre
    • Attend the hotel’s yoga classes

At this time, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will not require proof of vaccination to:

  • Order take-out from the Guide’s Pantry
  • Book a hotel room or to check into the hotel

Please note that the only exemption to this mandate will be for children under 12 years of age who are not yet eligible to receive their vaccination.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure our guests and colleagues are safe. In addition to this proof of vaccination under the Restriction Exemption program put in place by Alberta’s health officials, we will continue to follow the additional preventative measures currently in place at the hotel, as advised by the experts at Johns Hopkins and Ecolab, which are aligned with our brand’s ALL Safe and Well safety standards.


Below is a list of Frequently ASked Questions:

Question: What are the new mandatory public health measures?
Answer: The province-wide public health measures include the following:

  • Limit of 10 people maximum per table in restaurants and bars and no mingling between tables
  • No interactive activities in restaurants and bars such as dancing, darts and billiards
  • Restaurants and bars must stop liquor service at 11:00 p.m. and must close at 12:30 a.m.

Question: When are the new mandatory measures effective?
Answer:
The new province-wide public health measures are effective as of December 24 at 12:01 a.m.

Question: How long will these measures be in place?
Answer: The mandatory restrictions will be in place until further notice. 

Question: Why are these measures put in place?
Answer: These measures are in place to protect the health system and to help limit the spread of COVID-19. We all have a responsibility to slow the virus’s spread and make sure the health system can continue supporting patients with COVID-19, influenza and many other needs.

Question: Can I still check into the hotel if I am not vaccinated?
Answer: Proof of vaccination will not be required for hotel guests to check into the hotel and while in their guest room. However, hotel guests and visitors 12 years of age and older will still be required to show proof of vaccination or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service to access all hotel services including restaurants, bars, spas, pools and any meeting or event held on the property.

At this time, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will not require proof of vaccination to:

  • Order take-out from the Guide’s Pantry
  • Book a hotel room or to check into the hotel

Question: Now that I’ve heard about this, I’d like to modify and/or cancel my stay – is that possible?
Answer: Any guest (group or individual) wishing to modify or cancel of their reservation due to COVID-19 should contact Reservations at 403 522 3511.

Question: Where in the hotel will require proof of vaccination?
Answer: Proof of vaccination or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service will be required to use all hotel services including:

  • Dining in all bars and restaurants (except The Guide’s Pantry)
    • Events, meetings and conferences
    • The Fairmont Gold Lounge
    • The hotel’s Pools, Fitness Centre and Spa
    • The hotel’s fitness classes and Resort Activities

Question: Who will be checking my proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test?
Answer: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will have designated staff members to check valid proof of vaccination and/or negative COVID-19 test.

Question: Who will have access to my personal health information?
Answer: We are only confirming immunization or a negative COVID-19 test. We are not keeping any records.

Question: Will proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test be required to visit the pool/fitness centre?
Answer: At this time, guests staying at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise are required to show proof of vaccination or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of their visit to enter the Aquatic Centre and pool facilities with the exception of children under the age of 12.

Question: Will you be canceling my booking if I am unable to show proof of vaccination?
Answer: At this time, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise will not cancel any reservations. Proof of vaccination or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service is however required for all hotel services.

Question: Can I still make a reservation if I am unable to show proof of vaccination?
Answer: At this time, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is still accepting all overnight hotel reservations and will not require proof of vaccination to check into the hotel or while in your guest room. Proof of vaccination or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service is however required for all hotel services.

Question: When did the proof of vaccine or negative test mandate go into effect?
Answer: The program began on Monday, September 20, 2021, requiring proof of receiving the first shot of the vaccine or proof of a negative COVID-19 test.  After October 25, proof of double vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test is required.

As of October 25, proof of both vaccine shots will be required. This mandate is to be in effect until further notice.

Question: How do I show my proof of vaccination?
Answer (Alberta Residents): Prior to your arrival, please ensure you have completed the online registration for your My Health Records. This can be done on the Alberta My Health records website.
Answer (Non-Alberta Residents): Travellers visiting Alberta from outside of the province will also be required to show proof of vaccination, and further information regarding how to show proof of vaccination for non-Alberta residents can be found on the Alberta Government website.

Question: How long will this vaccination policy be in place?
Answer: Until otherwise noted by Alberta Health Services. 

Question: Do I need proof of vaccination to attend a wedding/event at the hotel?
Answer: Yes, or proof of a privately paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service.

Question: I am a long time loyal customer of Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, can an exemption be made for me during my upcoming stay?
Answer: No. At this time, only children under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for vaccination will be exempt from the proof of vaccination order.

Question: I am unable to receive the vaccine due to health/religious reasons, can an exemption be made for me during my upcoming stay?
Answer: At this time, only children under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for vaccination will be exempt from the proof of vaccination order or those who can provide valid medical documentation.

Question: Are hotel staff required to be fully vaccinated?
Answer: We introduced a mandatory vaccination policy for our team. Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has continued to strongly encourage staff to receive their vaccination, and will provide education, support and resources to ensure all colleagues have the appropriate information to complete their vaccination as advised.

Question: Do I need to take a COVID-19 test to enter Canada?
Answer: Please be advised, all incoming travelers, regardless of trip length or location, must provide proof of a pre-arrival negative molecular COVID-19 test in order to enter Canada. For more information on current public health measures for travelers entering Canada, please visit the Government of Canada website.
